lol Man just make music... I run both and I'll put up 5k that my PC runs just as well as a MAC or that no one can come to my lab and freeze or not handle anything you want or need it to do . I have a barebone PC that I don't go on the internet looking at and downloading porn on and it runs flawless... Both my PC and Mac gets it in!

All you have to do to let Windows screw things up, is make it auto-update the OS. You don't have to visit hazardous sites for that, you don't even have to browse the internet for that. :)

Anyways, if you keep your PC clean, it will certainly improve things, but in many cases certain Windows updates are required if you use the machine for more than just music.

I can agree with the fact that music can be made on a Windows PC, but I've never come across a PC that worked as fast as when I first got it 3 years later. Macs don't tend to have that issue, not in the least because the OS is different.

I know this is an old post but I don't know where else to vent my disappointment. I contacted OpenLabs through the phone and through email to try a DBeat and they never returned my call or email. I posted my disappointment on their forum, complained that there were no in depth reviews or tutorials anywhere (only for Ableton, not for the DBeat), and that their manual had some inaccuracies and was incomplete.

The main Admin from OL finally responded, apologized (which I accepted), asked me why I said the manual was incomplete (which I answered), and proceeded to pull the post after other people expressed similar disappointment!

I had seriously considered trying one because, like the MV, it was an all-in-one midi sequencer / multitracker with a built in drum pad sampler. Needless to say, they lost a sale. Not that they'll lose any sleep over one sale, and I'm not bashing the dbeat itself, but I had to share my (and others') disappointment with OL on a forum where they won't remove my post!

Please re-read my post. Nowhere did I express unhappiness with a unit I do not own, but disappointment with the company that did not get back to me so that I could try the unit out in the first place.

As a followup, OL rep Ed Rhone did finally respond and apologize for dropping the ball. I instantly accepted the apology and told him I was still open to considering an OL product in the future once my finances allowed. Unfortunately in waiting for over a month with the interest of recording and even creating some recording tutorials for other musicians, I had no choice but to invest the money I would have spent on a Dbeat on an MV8800 with an MV8-OP1 (making it closer to a DBeat in terms of inputs and outputs) and a set of hardware effects units (in lieu of the Windows plugins available on the DBeat).

I do not regret that decision at all, as I am making the same music I would have made with the DBeat. They're just two routes to the same destination. I am happy with the one I own, and have no comments on the one I don't. The only deciding factor between the MV and the DBeat was that the MV was there when I needed to learn about it, and the DBeat was not.

As far the other OL products, I am not looking for a keyboard (since I own a fully weighted 88-key Yamaha stage piano that sounds and feels far more realistic than the Fantom, the Motif, or any other keyboard I've played so far, and I really would rather not add a second keyboard to my setup for space reasons). The DBeat was the right combination, but I'm sure many of my questions (some already answered by other users) are applicable to the Meko. I'll PM you some of these or just post them here if the time comes when I am willing to try again with OpenLabs.

Again, please note that I did not express unhappiness in a product I do not own, but disappointment in the company for not giving me the information and the chance to try one out. Thanks for keeping this awesome forum, and thanks for keeping an OL section, so that it keeps the DBeat in the back of my mind until the interest and the dough are back in my account ;-)

Hope that clears the confusion!

I can't take your words as unhappiness or happy honest because this is the internet. :-). I can offer u help by providing a channel for real world help and aid from someone who has both unit that you one day have for yourself.

My viewpt is just that how i looked at those words and took them just you have done. Its no drama on either from what I can take from these words just different viewpts but we were able to chat about them in a respectful matter. :-)

The music production landscape is changing very fast and yes its expensive but it will slow down because we are in a circle that take old ideas and but a new sexy cover on them and it pulls us in. Bad or Good, Agree or Disagree we will make it thru this because in the end it is 44.1 16 bit stereo track no matters who makes it.

Happy Friday with blessings and respect from George.:-)

This is kinda sad because Ed is really good about communicating as well as putting you in ttouch with the right person within the company.
I would say his apology was sincere based on my dealings with him.
OL was cool even after getting me a discount on what was then the Dbeat Pro and I still passed on the deal.
They understood because my problem was based on LIVE not OL.
Maybe you should have checked out O-LIVE (the Open Labs broadcast) and it's archives they can help with questions about OL products or seeing them in action.
